KNAUER, Kenneth - Putnam

Greencastle, Ind – Services for Kenneth J. Knauer, 88, Greencastle, a former Putnam County sheriff, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Beech Grove United Methodist Church, Putnam County.  Calling will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m Thursday in Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home and an hour before services in the church.  He died Monday.  A Democrat, Mr. Knauer was elected sheriff of Putnam County in 1958 and served from 1959 to 1967.  He had also been a farmer a government fruit and vegetable inspector for 11 years and an employee of the Indiana State Farm at Putnamville for six years. He retired in 1976.  He was a member and former trustee of the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Putnam County Hospital. Survivor: wife, Helen E. Wettschurack Knauer.  – kbz
