Evan L.
Kircheval, a young lawyer at Greencastle and well known in this city, committed
suicide at the house of his father in that town at 8 o’clock this morning. The
painful circumstances attending the rash act are thus reported.  He took down his gun and remarked to his mother
that he was going to the woods and would be back in a short time. She dissuaded
him from going on account of rain and yielding to her solicitation, he retired
to his room taking the gun with him.  In
a few minutes, the report of the gun, followed by a heavy fall was heard and
upon reaching his apartment a horrid sight met the gaze of the terror stricken
family. Evan lay dead upon the floor, the fatal weapon beside him and a gastly
wound in the forehead in which the wadding of the gun was lodged and still
smoking, told the whole story. The work of self destruction was complete. No
particular cause is assigned. The unfortunate young man has been subject for
several years to temporary aberration of the mind and for a few weeks past
						seemed unusually depressed. - kbz
