Greencastle – Services for John W. King, 77, former state director for the Indiana Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. King, lifelong resident of Putnam County died Saturday in the Putnam County Hospital. He had been a public accountant and farmer. He was appointed administrative officer for ASC in 1960 and in 1962 became state director of the Farmers Home Association. King served as deputy collector for the state Internal Revenue Service and served on the IRS board. He was a member of Gobin United Methodist Church, Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, Sons of the American Revolution, Putnam County Board of Realtors, Greencastle Economic Development Commission, Society of Public Accountants, Putnam County Cancer Society, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and American Association of Retired Federal Employees and American Association of Retired Persons. King also served on the board of directors of Indiana Tax Practitioners. Survivors include daughter Agnes King.
