John Jones was fatally injured in the woods near his home Thursday near Cloverdale. He was assisting his father in dragging some tree tops down a hillside. One of the tops struck against a deal sapping which fell with a fearful crash. The tee struck the boy fracturing his skull and breaking his neck. The lad lived until about 8 o’clock that evening, when death relieved him from his terrible suffering. The accident occurred about 4 o’clock in the afternoon. Deceased was the 14-year-old son Anderson Jones, who lived five miles south of here. Mr. Jones is an industrious, hard working farmer and he and his wife were almost prostrated with grief. They have a large number of friends who extend their sympathy. The funeral occurred at Needmore today. – kbz
