JONES, Clara - Putnam

Greencastle, Ind – Memorial services for Mrs. Thad (Clara) Jones, 85, Columbus Ohio formerly of Greencastle, were held Saturday at Columbus. Mrs. Jones, a native of Princeton and resident of Greencastle more than 70 years, died Wednesday in a Columbus Nursing Home. She had lived in Columbus the last 10 years. She was Putnam County Auditor in 1944, served as secretary of Republican State conventions and vice chairman of Putnam County Republican Central Committee.  Mrs. Jones was a member of Gobin United Methodist Church committees and department programs and Greencastle’s First League of Women Voters.  A 1919 DePauw University graduate, she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, Kappa Kappa Kappa, and Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion auxiliaries. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Greencastle. Survivors: son Charles. - kbz
