William J. Johnson, aged 72 years, well known farmer of Jackson Twp., died suddenly late yesterday afternoon of a heart attack. Mr. Johnson was sticken just as he entered the Cyril Hicks garage on West National Avenue about 1:30 0'clock yesterday. A Miller & Sons' ambulance took the stricken man to the Clay County Hospital where he died a short time later. He had been in poor health for the past three years. Mr. Johnson was born in Jackson Township, Clay County, and was a son of Oliver B. and Matilda McCullough Johnson. He was a life-long resident of that community. He is survived by 5 sons and 4 daughters, Roy, west of the city; Forrest, Lowell, and Ernest, city (Brazil); Vernis of Greencastle; Mrs. Myrtle Miller, Greenfield, IN; Mrs. Alma Belcher, McCordsville,IN; Misses Jessie Mae and Mary Frances Johnson, at home. The wife and two children preceded him in death. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother and sister, Henry T. Johnson, of Terre Haute, and Mrs. Alma Dobson, Brazil. The body was taken to Miller & Sons' Funeral Home where friends may call after 4:30 this evening and where short services will be held at 1:15 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
