JOHNSON, Modesta Moss

Mrs. Modesta L. Johnson, wife of Roy Johnson, residing west of Reelsville in Putnam County, died Thursday at the Clay County Hospital following a stroke seven days ago, aged 41 years. Mrs. Johnson was born at Cardonia and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry E. Moss. Her entire life had been spent in Clay and Putnam counties. The deceased had been a member of the Croy Creek Christian Church for several years and was esteemed in the community. Survivors besides the husband are two sons and two daughters, William H., Kenneth Earl T., and Lucille Angieleah Johnson, and Mrs. Lelia Marie Mercer, all at home, also a brother and seven sisters, Pvt. Melvin E. Moss, of Camp Cullen, Ala.; Mrs. John B. Diel Reelsville; Mrs. Guy Harris, Marion; Mrs. Claude Vanatti Brazil; Mrs. George Blar, Danville; Mrs. Clayton Frye, Chicago, and Miss Betty Jane Moss, of Indianapolis. The body was taken to Miller & Sons Funeral Home where the friends may call after 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Funeral services will be held at the Croy Creek Christian Church at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, and interment will be made at the Croy Creek Cemetery -Brazil Times. – thanks to MLH
