Hila died of smallpox, afterwards her whole family received vaccination for the disease.

Mrs. Hila Moss Johnson, wife of Lowell Johnson, died at 11 o'clock last night at the home at 116 East Park Street, after several weeks illness of complications; aged 21 years, 11 months and 27 days.  The deceased is survived by the husband and two small daughters, Helen Mae and Mary Ann. Also the parents, Mr. & Mrs. Henry Moss, of near Reelsville, and a brother and eight sisters, Marvin Moss, Mrs. Roy Johnson of Asherville, Mrs. Roy Dial of near Reelsville & Myrtle, Mildred, Leona, Jennie Lee, Joan and Betty Jane.  The deceased had been a faithful member of the Croy Creek Christian Church.  Private funeral services will be held at the residence at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning, interment Croy Creek Cemetery.
