Nancy Alice, daughter of Thomas and Martha Stout Payton, born May 5, 1862 died March 23, 1907 aged 44Y 10M10D. Married to Samuel N. Jarvis Oct 6, 1880. Four children blessed this union: Claude N; Lola Lea, now Mrs. Carl Fletcher; Ethel Maude, now Mrs. Leroy Deere and Mary Dott. These togehter with three grandchildren, a loving husband, her aged parents, three sisters and four brothers and many relatives and friends mourn her departure. For years the deceased had been a great sufferer all that skilled and loving hands could do, availed not - and only in the past two years during periods of great mental and physical suffering did she loose the cheerful, hopeful view of life which was characteristic of her and in which her family and friends found such sweet fellowship. The beautiful devotion of her family, especially the husband, who so tenderly and patiently cherished his companion through long years of suffering keeping a ceaseless vigil over all her movements both night and day is most commendable and will certainly be to him and his children a great comfort at this time of deepest sorrow. Through many years of affliction she kept the cheerful, loving spirit and faith of the Chrsitian expression in these words to the parents a short time ago, this great hope: "Father and mother if I never see you more on earth, I expect to meet you in Heaven." Blessed words to comfort the aged parents as they journey toward that Heavenly Home. She united with the Baptist Church at Mt. Moriah July 9, 1887, living an assuming Christian Life. She greatly enjoyed her home and family, delighted in entertaining and mingling with firneds, her genial, optimistic spirit win its way into many hearts and finding fullest expression in her own home. Those who knew her ther eloved her most and her exalted type of Chrisitan womanhood will ever remain a cherished memory in the hearts of relatives & friends. Truly it may be said of this child, this sister, this companion, this mother, "These are they which cam eout of great tribulations and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."
- thanks muches Harriet :)
