Polson, Mont – Memorial services for Galen S. Irwin, 84, former resident of Roachdale, Ind, and president of Putnam County Bank, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Roachdale Presbyterian Church. Irwin died Saturday in a Polson convalescent center. He started as assistant cashier at the Roachdale Bank and Trust Co. in 1923. The bank became Tri-County Bank. He served as president from 1956-1982.  Irwin also was president of Hendricks Telephone Co. which later became Communications Corp. of Indiana. He served as president until moving to Polson in 1983. He attended the University of Wisconsin and the Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago. A charter member of Roachdale Lions Club, he co-founded the Roachdale 4th of July Celebration, an event that has run annually since. He was past master of Roachdale Masonic Lodge. Memorial contributions may  be made to the American Heart Association or the Izaak Walton League. Survivors: wife, Mabel Smyth Young Irwin; daughters, James Irwin; Nancy Stewart; son Steve Irwin; two grandsons. - kbz
