Source: Roachdale Times newspaper, Roachdale, Putnam County, Indiana 1/25/1940

Basil Inman, 35, was found dead in his room at the Cabrillo hotel in Los Angeles, California, Tuesday morning, friends here have learned. The cause of death has not been determined. Mr. Inman was born here October 19, 1905, and attended school here. In 1923 he and his grandmother Mrs. Ella Inman went to Long Beach, California, where he was associated in the photographic business with his uncle Lawrence J. Inman, one of the best commercial photographers on the west coast. In 1929 Basil went to Los Angeles where he was employed as a staff photographer by the Los Angeles Herald and the Los Angeles Examiner. While on vacation from this work he spent several weeks last summer visiting relatives and friends in this community. His parents who died in 1907 and 1908 were Charles and Nannie Stewart Inman. His grandmother Mrs. Ella Inman formerly operated the Inman hotel here. She has been dead several years. Surviving besides the uncle are the widow Mrs. Nedra Jenson Inman and a three year old daughter Janet, both of Los Angeles. No funeral arrangements have been made   ---- thanks so very much to Marilyn Walker for sharing her Roachdale Times obituary collection
