William H. Hyten, son of WIlliam C. and Eliza Hyten was born near Mt. Sterling, Montgomery County, KY Oct 12, 1823 and died Friday, April 14, 1911 after an illness of 5 weeks, aged 87 years, 6 months 2 days. Decedent came to Indiana with his paents when he was 10 years of age and had lived ever since in the state, most of the time in Montgomery County. He was one of the county's best known and ablest physicians, began the practice of medicine when 24 years of age and was identified with the profession for aobut 1/2 a century. For 47 years of his life he lived in Parkersburg, where he passed away.
Dr. Hyten and Elizabeth Crawford were united in marriage August 8, 1847 and to this union three children were born. Susan Isabell, Saphronia and Mary Clay. The two first named passed away in childhood. The latter is the wife of JW Goff of Penobscot, this county. Dr. Hyten's first wife died November 1857

On Feb 8, 1859, Dr. Hyten took as his bride Melinda Goodbar and to them 8 children were born, 5 boys and 3 girls, all of whom survive, except John Scott Hyten who died Jan 1, 1909. Deceased is survived by two sisters, Maria Brown of Danville, Ind; Mary Hall of Indianapolis; four sons, Depew, Dickerson, William H. and Tillman; four daughters, Mrs. Clay Goff; Mrs. Effie Owen; Cora and Bertha Hyten. 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchldren are also living.
The doctor realized that death was near and just before the final summons came he gave this last message: Children, this is death. I will soon be in better hands and what a glad change it will be for me!"
Funeral services were held Monday morning, April 17 at the home in Parkersburg. Rev. WD Headrick of Indianapolis officiated and burial was made in the Ladoga cemetery.

Ladoga, April 15.—Dr. W. H. Hyten, one of the oldest physicians in the county, died at his home in Parkersburg, at nine last night from the effects of heart trouble, and other diseases incident to old age. He was eighty-seven years old and has been a resident of the same Parkersburg for the past sixty years, having come to Montgomery from Hendricks county. He has been carrying on the practice of medicine in the vicinity of Parkersburg ever since he located there until the last few years, when he retired on account of falling health. He was twice married. Mrs. W. H. Goff of near Russellville is the only child by the first marriage. - Crawfordsville Journal Dr. Hyten was well known' in the northern part of Putnam County.
