HUTCHESON, Mary Ann Albaugh - Putnam

The subject of this sketch, Mary Ann Hutcheson, daughter of Peter and Mary H. Albaugh and wife of Henry Hutcheson, deceased was born in Garrard County, KY May 12, 1825 coming to Putnam County at age  15 years.  Her early years were spent in the vicinity of Greencastle.  She was united in marriage to Henry Hutcheson, deceased June 12, 1842 and soon after settled upon the farm on which she spent her days and for nearly years as wife and mother, she shared with her husband the burdens and joys such as are common to the lot of pioneers.  But the charmed circle was broken  when the husband laid down his stewardship and was called to his reward.  Mrs. Hutcheson and her husband united with the Christian Church at Manhattan, under the labors of Elder James Blankenship about 1855.  She continued steadfast and faithful to her professions util the last. To them was born six children, 3 sons and 3 daughters all living and present with her during her sickness.  After an illness of 10 days, Mrs. Hutcheson in the full exercise of her mental powers, calmly passed away Jan 20, 1890 completely resigned and ready to depart.  Yea, anxious to depart and rejoin her husband and other loved ones gone on before.  She leaves an aged mother, five brothers and four sisters to mourn the loss of one so dear.  Thus another one of the old pioneers, another mother in Israel, another ripe sheaf, has been gathered in.  The funeral services were conducted by Elder JM Brown of Greencastle  who delivered an interesting and impressive discourse, which was listened to by a very large number of neighbors and friends.  The remains were deposited in the Boone Cemetery near Hamricks Station, there quietly to rest until the morning of the resurrection where we hope to meet again in the better land.  Then a few more aged pioneers, a few more fathers and mothers and all will be gone, silently sleeping in the tomb.  Let us who are left revere and cherish their memory and profit by their noble example.   ~~~Transcribed and Typed by kbz
