When one of the early pioneers in our midst is called away, it seems proper that his neighbors, those who have honored him longest and best, should offer some suitable tribute of respect to his memory – to speak of his services and worth for the satisfaction of his many friends, and to serve as a guide to the feet of those who may follow after. With a true sense of the obligation we owe to these worthy pioneers, who have lived and died in our midst, we offer the brief remarks that follow: Henry Hutchison, the subject of these lines, was born in Garrard County, KY June 3 (8?), 1817. Had he lived until next June he would have been 64 years of age. In his early youth, 43 years ago, he came with his father, Randolph Hutchison to this county and settled on the farm now occupied by Phillip Hutchison the youngest son. He remained with his father until the years of his majority, when he launched his own barque on the sea of life, and boldly stepped in and grasped the rudder. His capital was his own strong arm and a well matured resolution. With unflagging energy and perseverance, he soon secured means sufficient in partnership with his brother, Peyton to purchase the farm upon which he spent the remainder of his days. Here, close by his aged parents, he determined to cast his lot and build up and establish the home of his future life. He was married to Miss Mary Ann Albaugh on 12 day of June 1842 and began housekeeping on a small scale near where his spacious dwelling now stands. In choosing his partner he found in Miss Albaugh one worth of his choice. Side by side they have trod the pathway of life together, sharing with each other toils, trials and joys – furnishing us with a bright example, well worthy of emulation. Their union was blessed with six children, three sons and three daughters, all living and settled near by. Brother Hutchison with his wife. -kbz
