Dr. Russell J. Humbert, president of DePauw University at Greencastle, Indiana died of a heart attack Saturday at Munson Hospital.  Humbert, 57, was stricken late Friday while at his summer home a few miles south of Eastport on Turch Lake. He was working on a commence address to be delivered at Bryan, Ohio. At the bedside of the educator when he died were his wife, Margaret and three daughters, Mrs. Martha Leedy, Alliance, Ohio, Mrs. Carolyn Rasmussen, Cleaveland, and Sarah, a Junior at DePauw.

Humbert, who took office August 1, 1951, was the 15th president in the 125-year history of DePauw. He was also a Methodist Minister and had served churches in the Ohio cities of Youngstown, Beach City, Akron and Toledo. He was educated at the College of Wooster, Boston University and Mount Union College. He had honorary degrees from Wabash College, Chicago Medical School, University of Akron, Indiana University, Valparaiso and Ohio Wesleyan. He was a nautical committeeman of the Boy Scouts of American.  

His body was taken to Hibbard Chapel, Traverse City and removed to Greencastle where funeral services will be conducted in Gobin Memorial Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting hours at the home, 125 Wood Street, Greencastle, will be held Monday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and from 7 to 9:30 p.m.  While Dr. Humbert was in the hospital, the family stayed at the home of Dr. and Mrs. G. Edward Stokes, friends o the Humberts.  A memorial fund for Dr. Humbert will be established Arend Dubee, Jr 1002 E. State Street, is president of the Northwestern Michigan Alumni Club for DePauw University.
