Mrs. Mayme Gainer HUGHES, wife of Judge James P. Hughes of the Putnam Circuit court died at the home on east Seminary street Friday morning about 10 o´clock. She suffered a stroke of paralysis last Tuesday afternoon and her condition form then was critical. Prior to that time she had b en in failing health for a number of years but was not seriously ill until last Oct. Mrs. Hughes was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gainer residents of Greencastle and she spent her entire lifetime in the city. she was widely known and loved by the entire community because of her kind and unassuming disposition, loyalty to her family and friends and her general interest in affairs during the time her health permitted. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul´s Catholic Church. Mrs. Hughes was united in marriage to James P. Hughes on Jan 17, 1907. To this union one son, James G was born. In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. John F. Cannon and Mrs. James E. Cannon of Greencastle; one brother, Edward J. Gainer of Washington DC. Funeral plans had not been completed early this afternoon.
