Mrs. Sarah E.
Howard, a former resident of Mattoon, died about 8 o’clock on Wednesday night
at her home in Danville, having suffered a stroke of paralysis 10 days ago. The
funeral will be conducted at 1 o’clock on Saturday afternoon at the Howard home
in Danville, after which the body will be brought to Mattoon by George W. Peers
for burial in Dodge Grove cemetery. The Danville minister who will officiate
there will probably accompany the body to this city. Mrs. Howard was the widow
of Jonas M. Howard, a former employee of the Big Four shops in this city. His
death occurred July 18, 1930. She was a native of Putnam County, Indiana and
was about 70 years old. She lived most of her life in this state. Mrs. Howard
leaves a daughter, Mrs. Mina Moss who made her home with her mother. There are
two sisters, Mrs. JJ Gallagher of Frankfort, Ind and Mrs. LS Horn of Arcola.
John Gillum and William Gillum of Charleston are brothers – kbz.
