HOPKINS, Rhoda

Source: Greencastle Banner 21 May 1874 p 3

A child of Mr. James Hopkins, of this city was removed from the old to the new cemetery last Saturday after an interment of about 20 years.  Upon opening the metallic case, the dress, lace and even the features were so perfectly preserved as to be easily recognized.  At the same time Mrs. Hopkins was removed after having been buried about four months in a heavy metallic case and found to be in a perfect condition save a slight mould or discoloration of the face.

Mary A. Hopkins born 10 Dec 1821 died 4 Jan 1874 age 52
Probably their daughter Rhoda is the first above – she was two years and six months old but don’t know her specific dates.  About 1854 I guess
James passed about 10 years later – born 16 June 1818 died 27 Nov 1884 – they are buried at Forest Hill (now)

There was a James Hopkins in the Civil War Co A 78th Infantry 29 July 1862 mustering but not sure if it is the same James Hopkins
