HOPKINS, Ernest - Putnam

Roachdale – Ernest H. Hopkins, 79, died at 10 p.m. Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lela Page, Rt 2, Roachdale. He had been ill for two weeks. He was born Jan 23, 1882 in Douglas County Ill to George and Sarah Hopkins. On Jul 23, 1901 he married Hattie Ogdon at Newman, Ill.  He was a farmer all his life. Survivors include two sons, Raymond, Rt 1, Ladoga and Carlos, Rt 3, Crawfordsville; four daughters, Mrs. Lela Page and Mrs. Ada Mae Stewart of Roachdale; Mrs. Della Hedge of Jamestown and Mrs. Ethel Frazier of Greencastle; a sister, Eva Ogdon of Pittsboro; 17 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.  Preceding him in death were his wife, two children, three brothers and two sisters.  Funeral services will be held at the Perkins’ Funeral Home Roachdale at 5 p.m. Wednesday.  Burial will be in Roachdale cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday.   – kbz
