WAVELAND — Graveside services were held in Indianapolis' Crown Hill Cemetery Monday afternoon for Mrs. Elizabeth Hopkins, 88, sister of Mrs. Hazel Machledt of Waveland. Mrs. Hopkins died Friday in Columbus, Ohio, where she was residing with her two sisters, Mrs. Machledt, who was spending the winter there, and Mrs. Edistina Ruthford. Mrs. Hopkins was born July 13, 1878, at Cloverdale, Ind., to George and Sarah Farrow Hendrix. She spent most of her early life in Tangier, Ind., where her father and oldest brother operated a grist and saw mill. She was a graduate of Brazil High School and Indiana University. At the university she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. After teaching for several years, she married Thomas K. Hopkins and moved with him to Syracuse, N. Y., where he was head of the geology department at Syracuse University. Her husband preceded her in death. Survivors include the two sisters and several nieces and nephews.   ---typed by Walt W
