Okla Clay Hood, 90, of Hickory Manor Assisted Living died Wednesday March 8, 2006. Born Aug 20, 1915 in Cyclone, Indiana, he was the son of the late James Thomas and Cleo Nicely Hood. He was formerly employed by Lockheed Aircraft in California, Howard Hughes Aircraft in California and Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta, Georgia and served in the US Army during WWII. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Selma Cook Hood; a daughter, Janet Carolyn Rogers; a son, James G. Hood; and a brother, James Hood, Jr. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Judy A. Newton & Bill of Hickory; sons & daughter-in-law, William Hood of Tampa, FL and John Hood and Elizabeth of Willis, TX; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Overhalser & Frank of Acworth, GA; Lucille Bradshaw of Reading, OH and Geraldine DeHart of LA, California; first wife, Stella DeHart Schmidt of Batesburg, SC; a number of grandchildren and step grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance was held Saturday March 11, 2006 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover, Rev. Gary Patterson officiated. Note: Although this says he was born in Cycle (which is in Clinton County), he was born in Putnam County (Greencastle) 20 August 1915. He was in the US Army 6 March 1945 – 18 Jan 1946.
