HOLLAND, Robert Allen

Robert Allen Holland, 90, former director of the St. Louis City Art Museum and also Kansas City Art Institute died of heart disease Wednesday night at his home, Sontag Road, Ballwin.  Mr. Holland came to St. Louis is 1903 as superintendent of exhibit records of the Art Gallery at the St. Louis World’s Fair.  In 1924, after service as the director of the museum here, he went to Kansas City and became curator at the Nelson Art Gallery there.  Subsequently he aided in development of the Kansas City Art Institute.  After spending 13 years in that city he returned to St. Louis County to live. He is survived by his widow, Madeleine; two sons, Glen A. Holland of Villanova, PA and Gene Allen Holland of Ballwin, and two daughters, Mrs. Aithra Holland Hahn of Washington DC and Mrs. Lucille Stohlman of St. Louis. There will be no funeral services and the body will be cremated. – kbz

Note: he lived in Greencastle for some time and most of his children born here. In the 1900 census he lives in Greencastle and is listed as an Artist!
