Julian D. Hogate, retired Danville publisher and prominent in Indiana political circles, died at his home in Danville Sunday. He was 65 years old. He had been ill two years and within the last few days had suffered repeated strokes of apoplexy. Born in Danville, Mr. Hogate was educated at Danville and DePauw university where he was graduated with the class of 1891. For more than 40 years he was active in newspaper work. He purchased the Hendricks County Republican in 1890 and developed it into one of the leading country newspapers in Indiana. During his ownership, Mr. Hogate an editor of the “old school” made the paper a stanch Republican organ. - kbz
