Greencastle – Fred Hixon, age 68, prominent lumberman for the last 25 years, died at Putnam County Hospital. The widow, two daughters and a son survive.

Fred (Hickson) Hixon, former resident of Roachdale, died at his home in Greencastle Monday July 9. Funeral services were held at Roachdale Christian church Wednesday afternoon. Internment was in Roachdale cemetery. Survivors are wife; Two daughters; Mrs. A.W. Broadstreet, Greencastle; Mrs. John McConnell, Indianapolis, one son Orval, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Albert Bradford of Rockville is a sister, and J. M. Fred (Hickson) Hixon, a former resident of Roachdale died at his home in Greencastle Monday July 9 at 11 a.m.  Funeral services were held at the Roachdale Christian Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock; interment was made in Roachdale cemetery.   -– kbz

Following an operation at the county hospital Sunday afternoon Fred Hixon died Monday noon of complications.  He was 68 years of age.  Mr. Hixon became widely known in this territory during his many years’ connection with the lumber industry, the True-Hixon company having plants in Greencastle, Attica and New Market under his charge.  He organized the company of that name in Greencastle in 1911.  For the last 5 years he had lived in Greencastle.  Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. AW Broadstreet of Greencastle and Mrs. John McConnell of Indianapolis and one son, Orval of Indianapolis.  Mrs. Albert Bradford of Rockville is a sister and J< Hixon of Attica is a brother.  Funeral services were held at Roachdale in the Christian Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with interment in Roachdale cemetery.   -– kbz
