Benjamin F. Hinkle was born in Putnam County, Indiana July 1, 1865, died May 30, 1908, aged 43 years 10 months 29 days. He was married to Isabelle Burton, March 9, 1898. The near relative bereft by the sad accident is a wife, three step children, a father, mother, two brothers, Newton and Willis, three sisters, Mrs. Mary King of Coatesville; Mrs. Alice Taylor and Mrs. Thursie Richardson of Terre Haute. He was an employe of Cole Bros. Lightning Rod Company and had been for a number of months. He was steady, faithful and had worked all day until a few minutes before he was killed by a Vandalia engine as he started from his home to town to meet his family who had went on before him. Surely this is another one of the sad stories wherein it confirms the reading of Scripture where it says, “In the midst of life we are in death.” - kbz
