HILLIS, Martha Lucinda Henry Harris - Putnam

Martha Lucinda Hillis, died Saturday, born August 23, 1856, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Henry. Her entire life was in Putnam Co. She had nine sisters and brothers and all of these but two sisters and one brother are yet living; Mrs. J. S. Morris of Memphis, Tennessee, Mrs. Emma O'Hair of Greencastle and Fred Henry of Indianapolis. She married James Milton Harris, April 22, 1875. He died September 24, 1908. They were the parents of John H. Hillis, Putnam Co., Roy Hillis and Mrs. Lee Reeves of Greencastle and Roscoe Hillis of Floyd Township. Ten years after the death of her first husband, she married C.Y. Hillis on October 16, 1918. He died September 28, 1933. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Reeves, with internment in Brick Chapel.   --- thanks so very much to Marilyn Walker for sharing her Roachdale Times obituary collection - greatly appreciated !
