HIGGINS, Herbert - Putnam

Franklin – Herbert E. Higgins, business manager of the Indiana Masonic Home for the past 12 years died suddenly at his home Wednesday evening.  Mr. Higgins was born Dec 9, 1907 in Putnam County, Indiana and was educated in the Danville schools.  He was the son of Harry and Cloe Patrick Higgins, both deceased.  On April 25, 1930 he was married to Lucretia Harper in Martinsville, who survives.  At one time, Mr. Higgins had been an International Harvester dealer in Danville and Indianapolis.  He was a member of the Danville Christian Church, the Plainfield Masonic Lodge of which he was a Past Master, Scottish Rite and Shrine.  Survivors with the widow are one sister, Mrs. Florence McVay, Lafayette and one niece.  Services will be held at the Vandivier Funeral Home, North Main Street at 2:00 p.m. Saturday with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Martinsville.  Calling hours are Friday afternoon and evening and until time of the service. – kbz
