HICKMAN, John - Putnam

A card from Rev. H. Hickman dated at Brumley, Mo. Dec 3,1918 gives the following particulars about the death of his father, who is well-known in Waveland. "John Hickman died at 7 a.m. on Dec 1. He was b. in Crab Orchard, Ky 74 years ago. He once resided in Russellville where he marr. Miss Eliza Mitchell. From Russellville he enlisted in the civil war in which he served 4 years and 6 months. Four years after the death of his first wife, he marr. Arminda Hibler and resided in Waveland some 2 or 3 years. He then went to Ill. and thence to Missouri, where he had lived for the past 20 years. By trade he was a carpenter, which trade he followed until past 10 years.   --- transcribed by kbz
