It will be recalled that some two months ago, WO Hendren, an interurban agent, was murdered by an unknown man at the Greencastle station. The murder created intense excitement at the time and a number of DePauw University students chased the man for some distance but were unable to apprehend the murderer. Since that time many clues have been run down without success by Greencastle authorities and following a long delay a reward is offered for the arrest of the man who shot Hendren down in cold blood. The Banner Times of that city says: “A reward of $300 will be offered for the arrest and conviction of the murderer of WO Hendren, It has been nearly two months since the crime was committed at the interurban station in this city and the escape of the murderer, who it will be remembered shot Hendren through the heart. The county has appropriated $100 and the Interurban has put up another $100 and now the city guaranteed another hundred The council at its meeting on Tuesday evening decided to vote its third and the offer is thus made of $300 reward, There is but little hope of ever catching the criminal, though it is said some clews (sic) are being quietly worked, but the reward may be some incentive for additional effort and $300 may get an additional investigation that may bear fruit,”
