On Wednesday last Mr. William Hazelett, of this township, who has been suffering from mental disabilities for some time, procured a jug of whiskey, under the hallucination that his physicians had ordered him to use it for his health. Taking it home Mr. Hazelett proceeded to drink the liquor I large quantities, his family being absent at the time. When discovered he had taken about a quart of the liquor. He was sitting, or rather reclining in an arm chair, his head thrown forward, unconscious and almost pulseless. Drs . Bence and Preston were summoned and after working with the patient several hours they succeeded in alleviating his condition, though he continued unconscious through that night and the following day. Since the above was put in type we learn that Mr. Hazelett died on Thursday, about midnight never having rallied from the effects of the liquor. Deceased was a young known and esteemed by a large number of our citizens, having grown up in our county. His death is generally mourned and the sympathies of our people are with the family, especially the widow and fatherless children, in this their day of sorrow and bereavement. The funeral will take place Sunday at 2 o’clock p.m. Services by Elder OP Badger. – kbz
