Ewing Glenn Hazlett, 80 of Folsom, Calif, father of Journal and Courier correspondent, Betty Lou Smith of Monticello died at 5 a.m. Saturday at Sacramento, Calif, following an extended illness. Born in Indiana, he attended Indiana State University and Purdue University. He was formerly a teacher and coach in Indiana, Illinois and California.  He had also worked as an engineer at Aerojet Corp at Sacramento and was associated with the Department of Indian Affairs. His marriage was to Dorothea Hemming and she survives.  Mr. Hazlett was a member of Indiana and California Teachers Association and Masonic Lodge.  Surviving with the widow and the daughter, Betty Smith are a son, William G. Hazlett of Austin, Texas; four daughters, Carolyn Mallory of Fair Oaks, Calif; Marily Rupert of Lubbock, Texas, Sharron Smith of Stone Mountain, Ga and Gretchen Self of Carmichael, Calif; one sister, Okel Clark of Crawfordsville; and a brother, Lloyd Hazlett of Evansville.  Services will be at California. – kbz
