HARGRAVE, William B. - Putnam

Rockville, Ind – Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the United Methodist Church here for William B. Hargrave, 85, editor and publisher of the former Rockville Republican. Burial will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery at Marshall.  Hargrave, who was inducted three years ago into the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame by the Indiana Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi died Wednesday in a Rockville nursing home.  In 1934, Hargrave began operating what is now the Rockville Sentinel.  He was president of the Indiana Republican Editorial Association in 1941 and in 1957 he founded the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival. In 1973, the Indiana House of Representatives adopted a resolution honoring Hargrave for his work in the annual fall event.  Survivors include a stepdaughter and stepson. - kbz
