Mrs. Elizabeth D. Harding, in her 89th year, died last evening at the residence of her son, Henry Harding, two mile south of the city. Death was due to the infirmities of old age and the end was so peaceable and quiet that those at the bedside did not realize that it was at hand. She simply slept away.
Mrs. Harding was the relict of Josiah Harding, one of the county's early and influential citizens. She was born in Virginia March 12, 1806. She was married to Josiah Harding in Shelby County Kentucky in May and 10 years thereafter they removed to Indiana and settled in Putnam County, near Russellville. Here they remained untiil 25 years ago when they sold out and removed to the Harding Home place south of town. Five children blessed the union, four of whom survive: Charles, John, Henry and William harding of Rockville. A remarkable fact in connection with the family is that there has been but five deaths. Mr. and Mrs. Harding, a child, and two grandchildren. Mrs. Harding joined the Methodist Church 70 long years ago and has lead a consistent Christian life.
The funeral will be conducted at the residence of Henry Harding at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow, Revs. Green and Tucker officiating. Interment at Maosnic Cemetery. --- kbz

The funeral will be held from the resident on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Revs. Tucker and Greene. Interment at Masonic cemetery. The deceased was born March 12, 1806 in Virginia and was married to Josiah Harding May 12, 1828 in Shelby County, Kentucky. They came from there to Putnam County, Indiana in 1838 and to this county 30 years ago. Five sons were born of whom four, Charles, William, John and Henry still live. In all Mrs. Harding’s married life only three deaths occurred, those of one son and two grandchildren. Mrs. Harding was the oldest Methodist in Montgomery County and perhaps the state, having been a member of the church for full 70 years, holding a membership in the ME Church of this city at the time of his death. She was a most excellent old lady and her death closes a career of honor and usefulness seldom attained. - kbz
