CHARLES R. HARCOURT, 88, Cloverdale, died Saturday at Cloverdale Convalescent and Rehab Center. Born Aug 10, 1910 in Putnam County, he was the son of Wendell Curtis and Rosa (Day) Harcourt. He married Virginia Alice Giessman on Oct. 7, 1954. She died Dec. 22, 1991.
A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a machine operator and repairman for Diamond Chain, Indianapolis. He was a member of Hurst-Collins American Legion Post 281, and a member and former board member of Cunot Senior Citizens Center. Surviving are a brother, Royal G. Harcourt, Indianapolis; a stepdaughter, June Welch, Indianapolis; a stepson, William Siler, West Milton, Ohio; two nephews, Larry B. Harcourt, and Bruce A. Harcourt and wife Evelyn, all of Indianapolis; a niece, Beverly Carmichael and husband Stephen, Plainfield; 5 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Survivors also include five sons from his first marriage, Russell Harcourt and wife Mary Alice, Fillmore; Roy Harcourt and wife Mary Lee, Euless, Texas; Rex Harcourt and wife Carolyn, Plainfield; Robert Harcourt and wife Nancy, Coatesville, and Randy Harcourt, Lafayette; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Beatrice Irene, and a brother, Wendell Reece Harcourt.
Services were conducted Tuesday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Rev. Woody Thompson officiated. Burial was in New Providence Cemetery.
