A 73-year old Russellville area resident was fatally injured and 4 other persons include two children were hurt in a two-vehicle crash about 7 p.m. near Advance, Wed Oct 21. The Boone County sheriff’s department investigating the accident along with state police, said Samuel Clay Harbison, 73 Russellville RR was pronounced dead on arrival at Witham Hospital, Lebanon. The elderly motorist had suffered a crushed chest and broken left arm. Injured were his wife, Grace, 71, their daughter, Mrs. Ruth Hamock and Mrs. Hamock two daughters, Teresa 8 and Judith 6…the body of Mr. Harbison was taken to the McGaughey & Son Funeral Home, Russellville where funeral services were held Sunday. Mr. Harbison was born near Russellville Sept 16, 1891 and was the son of Alex and Nancy Harbison. He was married Aug 24, 1911 to Grace White. He was a farmer his entire life until his retirement about 4 years ago. He had spent his entire life in the same community about 4 miles SW of Russellville. Survivors include the widow, Grace; 3 sons: Wesly, Ancib (sic) and Max Noel; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Hammock; a sister, Mrs. Belvia McGaughey; a brother, Wilbur; 10 grandchildren and six greats. - kbz

Lebanon, Ind – A man was killed and four others injured in a
car-bus accident at 7 p.m. yesterday on Ind 75, ¼ of a mile north of Advance in
western Boone County. No one in the bus
was injured. Samuel Clay Harbison, 73 years old, RR 1, Russellville, died en
route to a hospital. State Police said
the accident occurred when a bus, driven by Anthony Kincaid Jr 35, RR 2,
Lebanon pulled off a country road onto Ind 75, headed south and the car, driven
south by Harbison struck the rear of the bus. State Trooper Walter Smith said
witnesses claimed there were no tail lights on the 1942 model bus which had
been converted into a camper-trailer. In serious condition in Witham Hospital
in Lebanon are Mrs. Grace Harbison, 70 wife of Harbison. Harbison’s daughter,
Mrs. Hamock, 35, Kokomo an expectant mother.
Mrs. Hamrock’s two daughters, Teresa, 8 and Judith are in fair condition. Kincaid had been
demonstrating the bus to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hopper of Advance when the accident
