On Thursday evening, June 28, at 9:30 o'clock occurred the death of J.R.M. Hamrick at his late residence in the northwestern suburbs of the city. Mr. Hamrick had been ill but a short time. Brights Disease causing his death. The death of Mr. Hamrock removes from Putnam County one of our oldest and most respected citizens and his passing away will be in a distinct loss. Deceased was a progressive Christian gentleman who believed in his God and in fellowship with man. His friendship was of the kind that counts and his deeds of kindness will never be forgotten.

Mr. Hamrick was born Sept 11, 1826, near Mt. Sterling, Ky. He came to this county with his mother, brothers and sisters in 1836 when he was 10 years old. His mother, who was Mrs. Hannah Tatman Hamrick, entered land in Madison Township. Mr. Hamrick married Miss Louisa Brothers May 15, 1851. She was a native of Putnam County, her home at the time of her marriage to Mr. Hamrick being in Clinton Township. In 1857 Mr. Hamrick bought the old homestead farm in Clinton Township and resided there from that time until the time of his removal to this city in 1899.

Mre. Hamrick was a brother of Wm. H. Hamrick, of Danville. John Hamrick, deceased of Danville; Jesse Hamrick, of this county and Mrs. Miram Thompson of Parke County. He has 7 children living who are as follows: Mrs. John Stoner, Mrs. Frank Albin, Robert and Albert of this city; EUgene Hamrick of Clinton Falls; Schuyler, of MInneapolis; Mrs. Phoebe A. Farrow, of Gordon, Kansas. Two sons, William and John are dead.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the family residence with Rev. Hoagland in charge. The interment occurred at the Little Walnut Cemetery.
