James Hadley,  an old and esteemed citizen of Hendricks County was instantly killed by a passenger train on the Indianapolis and St. Louis railway, Monday afternoon attempting to cross the track near Hadley’s Station, Hendricks County.  Mr. Hadley was in his farm wagon at the time and was just returning from Danville where he had been to purchase some farm implements and was within 200’ of his own house when the accident occurred.  - transcribed by kbz
