GREENCASTLE, Ind.. Nov. 19.— William R. Grogan, aged 75 years, died here yesterday after an illness of two years. Mr. Grogan was one of the best known men in Putnam county. For four years, from 1880 to 1884, he served as treasurer of Putnam county. For many years Mr. Grogan was a cattle buyer in this district, shipping nothing but fancy cattle to the New York markets where they were in turn sent to Europe. His largest shipment consisted of two trains of thirty-five cars, carrying 575 head of cattle valued at about $40,000. Deceased is survived by one son, William A. Grogan, and three daughters, Mrs. Willis Miller of this city, and Miss Bessie Grogan, who made her home with her father, and Mrs. Grace S. Wiseman, of Altamont, III. Mr. Grogan was the oldest living member of Putnam Lodge No. 45, I. O. O. F., and that body had charge of the funeral services Friday afternoon. He was also a member of Locust street church. Rev. Beck conducted' the funeral services.
