Jeptha P. Green, eldest son of Henry Jackson and Sarah Jane Walker Green, was born in Westfield, Clark County, Illinois, November 1, 1858, and at an early age removed with his parents to Coles County, Illinois, where he remained until March 1879, when he once again moved with his parents to Arcola, Illinois. On June 2, 1889, was united in the holy bonds of wedlock with Sarah Jane Bowers at her home near the old Mt. Gilead Methodist church, where she held her membershiop and where he placed his during their courtship. They established a home on a farm five miles northeast of Arcola in Douglas County, Illinois, where four fine children were born to them, namely: Edith M., who is now the wife of A. McWilliam of Toulon, Illinois; John W. Green, who is a dentist in Springfield, Illinois, H. Glen Green, who is a farmer at Jacksonville, Illinois and Mary Lois, who is a teacher at Bloomington, Illinois. Other survivors are a brother W. A. Green of Ashmore, Illinois, the only one left of a family of seven, seven grand children and several neices and nephews. Mr. Green bought an removed to the George Swaim farm near Roachdale in 1920 and had lived in Putnam County since that time. His health failed in March, 1938, and it became necessary for him to leave the farm. In August of that year he removed to Greencastle where he passed away June 21, 1939. Funeral services will be held at the Chastain funeral home Friday morning. Burial will be made in Brodus cemetery, near Camargo, Illinois. --- thanks to Marilyn Walker
