GORDON, Oliver Perry

Oliver Perry Gordon, only son of George Samuel and Martha Walls Gordon, was born in Montgomery Co., Indiana Oct 22, 1973 and departed this life Sept 7, 1944, at his home near New Maysville. He was married to Martha Eggers Oct 19, 1893. They enjoyed the rare privilege of celebrating their 50 years of wedded life last year. To this union was born 6 children, one dying in infancy. Those surviving with their mother are Charley of North Salem, Clyde of Zionsville, Mrs. Pearl Eggers, Mrs. Edna Day, and Mrs. Geneva Poindexter all of Indianapolis. Also three grandchildren: Bobbie Day, Janet and Billy Gordon. Mr. Gordon had spent his entire life in the vicinity of Roachdale and New Maysville where he had a wide circle of friends. “Roachdale” – Funeral services for Perry Gorden were held at the Chastain Funeral Home Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. OJ McMullen. Burial was in New Maysville cemetery.  Pall bearers were Herman Walls, Bernice Eggers, Guy Gleason, Wayne Walls and Clay Lasley.  Flower bearers were Nona Gratham, Ruby Major, Bertha Bell, Della Job and Leath Ray. “Going Down the Valley” was sung by Eugene Hutchins.
