Roachdale - Mrs. Martha Jane Gordon, a resident of Putnam County most of her life, died Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Geneva Poindexter in Indianapolis. She had been ill a week. Born Sept 19, 1877 near Roachdale, she was the daughter of Squire and Amanda Sutherlin Eggers. She was married to Perry Gordon Dec 19, 1893. He preceded her in death Sept 7, 1944. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edna Day of Indianapolis and Mrs. Poindexter at whose home she died; a son, Clyde Gordon, Johnsonville, Ill; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Alexander, Tangier and 3 grandchildren. A son Charlie Gordon preceded her in death in March of this year. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock from the Chastain Funeral Home in Roachdale. Rev. Ray Britton will be in charge and burial will be in New Maysville Cemetery.
