GOODWIN, Claude Dando - Putnam

Claude D. GOODWIN, better known here as Dan, had a fatal heart seizure while at his work as superintendent of the armory construction at Darlington Tuesday afternoon. He was home Sunday and was not feeling well but felt that he must be on the job Monday as some new men were to be enrolled. Tuesday morning he became ill on the work. A physician was called who gave temporary treatment and had him removed to his hotel, where he died shortly after. His brother, Clyde was with him. The body was brought here by the Machledt ambulance. Funeral services at the home on Friday morning will be in charge of Rev. NT Gottschall. Burial in Maple Ridge Cemetery. - typed by kbz

Funeral services for Claude D. Goodwin, who died onuesday of last week were held at the home on Friday morning at 10 in charge of Rev. N.T. Gottschall. Margaret Louise Sharp, Isabel Shanks, Jack Spruhan and Guy Spruhan Jr.  Mrs. Albert Stewart sang Danny Boy with Mrs. Lowell Spencer at the piano, and Mrs. Spencer played the Old Oaken Bucket." The ME quarter sang The Old Ruggest Cross. The casket was borne by Howard Glover, Robert Glover, Charles M. Moore, ?J Sharp, Millard Kesterson and Frank Shanks. The flowers were carried by Mrs. Parke SpencerMrs. Olive Lough Mrs. Tharp, Mrs. Lee Kester, Helen Kelso, Helen Tharp, Agness Loudermill, Margaret Loudermill, Margaret Louise Sharp, Isobel Shanks, Jack Spruhan and Guy Spruhan, Jr. Burial in Maple Ridge. Claude D. Goodwin son of David and Mary A. Goodwin was born in Russellville May 8th 1865 and died Tuesday morning June 16, 1936 of a heart attack, while on duth as Superintendent of Construction of the new National Guard Armory at Darlington. Dan, as he was familiarly known, spent the weekend at his home in Waveland and while he complained of feeling rather ill Friday and Saturday he had a happy day Sunday and left early Monday morning to resume his work at Darlington, apparently feeling as good as usual. He was united in marriage August 5, 1924 to Madge Spruhan of Waveland at Norton, Kansas where he was then employed with school house work. In 1927 he came back to Indiana and has resided here in Waveland in the little home he loved so well. He is survived by his widow, two brothers, Fred of Russellville; Clyde of Waveland and one sister, Mrs. AS Glover of Hammond and several nieces and nephews.
