Newton Jasper Glover was born near Lost River, Orange County, Indiana June 24, 1825 and died June 24, 1898. He was the youngest in a family of 8 children. His father died when he was 3 years old, thus depriving him of the counsel and care so helpful and necessary at that tender age. He came to this County and settled in Waveland in 1848, and entered into an active business life which continued until a few months before his death. He operated a carriage factory here until after the war, after which he engaged in the general merchandise business in partnership with the late Joseph Milligan for about 15 years and later in connection with his sons. For the past 40 years he has been an active worker and consistent member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Glover was married to Matilda J. Milligan March 29, 1848. To this union were b. 7 children, the eldest dying in infancy and the youngest, Alexander Newton, dying March 21, 1883 at the age of 22 years. He leaves a widow and five children: Robert J, Mrs. AG Dickey, of Tipton, Mrs. GE Hanna, Charles E of Cloverdale and John M of New Market. During his last illness of several months his suffering was great, but was born with patience and submission, he often expressing himself as ready and only waiting for the summons to enter into that eternal rest which is promised by the Father to those that love Him. He will be remembered by the family as the kindest of husbands and fathers, by the community as an energetic and useful citizen, and by the family residence on Monday, conducted by Rev. SV McKee. The family wish to thank the friends who so kindly assisted them during his sickness. -- typed by kbz
