Harry Gillmore , 32 years old of Cloverdale who ended his life swallowing poison at the home of Mrs. William Branneman in Cloverdale Friday morning about 2 o’clock will be buried in the Cloverdale cemetery Sunday afternoon. Funeral service will be at the Reed Funeral home and the Rev. HS Sherrill of Greencastle will be in charge. Gillmore ended his life by taking strychnine; however two notes left by the suicide gave no reason for the act. One of the notes was addressed to his half sister, Miss Mary Gillmore of Cloverdale and other bore no address. Gillmore is said to have returned to Cloverdale from Bloomington where he had been living with his wife’s parents about two months ago. For the past two months the couple have been separated. Mrs. Gillmore is the daughter of professor and Mrs. WR Allee of Bloomington and formerly of Cloverdale. County coroner Frank Reed stated today that he had been unable to learn where Gillmore obtained the poison. He had attempted to buy the strychnine at two Cloverdale drug stores but both refused to sell it to him. Dr. Clyde Gray of Cloverdale was called to the Branneman home about midnight Thursday night it was said when the man went into convulsions. Dr. Grey treated Gilmore (sic) and he was apparently relieved. At about 2 o’clock however the doctor was called again but Gilmore was dead when he arrived. The survivors are the widow, a sister, Mrs. Jesse Wells of New York and the half sister at Cloverdale. --- transcribed by kbz
