James A. Gilliams, 88, died at his home near Fincastle Sunday morning. Born April 21, 1850, in this county, the son of Edgecomb and Anna Gilliams and on October 1, 1868, he married Rushey Kyle. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Fincastle Universalist church, where he was a member. Burial was made in the Blakesburg cemetery. Survivors are a son; A. E. Gilliams, of Los Angeles, California, daughter, Mrs. Orene Morgan, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, a granddaughter, Mrs. Edna Graham, of Fincastle and two great Grandchildren, Joan and Archie Lee Graham of Fincastle --- thanks so very much to Marilyn Walker for donating her Roachdale Times obituary collection
