David Kindred Garrett, 77 years old, died at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at his home in Madison township following an extended illness. His condition had been critical for several days. The well known Putnam county farmer was born January 18, 1861 in the state of Kentucky, near the city of Lexington. He came to this county when a child and had resided in Madison Township since that time. Mr. Garrett was married in 1895 to Dollie Goddard who preceded him in death. Mr. Garrett was a member of the Long Branch Christian church and was prominently known throughout the county. Surviving are one son, Willard Garrett of this city; two daughters. Mrs. Joseph Eader of Anderson and Mrs. Minnie Mangus of Madison township; one sister, Mrs. Charles Brackney of Brick Chapel community; two brothers, Green Garrett of Montgomery county and George Garrett of Greencastle. A brother, Robert Garrett, prominent Fillmore resident, died in February, this year. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon at Long Branch Christian church. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The body will remain at the Rector Funeral Home in this city where friends may call until time for last rites. - kbz
