GARDNER, Samuel - Putnam

Samuel Gardner whose illness was mentioned in Thursday’s paper died at 7:20 that evening at his home six miles northwest of the city. Mr. Gardner was one of the best known citizens of the county. He was a democrat of the Jeffersonian kind and was honored 3 times with election as county commissioner, serving in all 9 years. Mr. Gardner was 80 years old. The funeral will occur on Saturday at 2 p.m. services at the house with interment at the Baptist Cemetery on Little Walnut. - kbz
