GARDNER, Barton - Putnam

Word was received here this week of the death of Barton S. Gardner which occurred at his home, Quakeracre, in Evergreen, Cal, March 17. The cause of his death was dropsy and heart trouble. "Uncle Bart" had been confined to his bed for several months; he was about 60 years of aged and leaves a wife. He was raised in this vicinity, being a son of Mrs. Nancy Forgey who with several brothers and other relatives survive him. -- kbz
