FYKE, Margaret - Putnam

Lafayette, Ind Feb 12 – Dr. Albert D. Fyke is battling with death in an effort to reach Lafayette in time to attend the funeral of his daughter, Miss Margaret Fyke who died in Indianapolis Saturday morning.  Dr. Fyke and Mrs. Fyke are hurrying from New Mexico where the doctor has been for the last six months in an effort to prolong his life, which has been threatened for several years by tuberculosis.  It is doubtful whether he reaches Lafayette alive.  Miss Fyke was the only daughter and was a graduate of the Lafayette High School and DePauw University. She had taught school at Greencastle since her graduation from DePauw.  She died at Methodist Hospital for an operation. The funeral is to be held tomorrow.  Miss Fyke’s brother David is now attending Purdue University.    ---transcribed by kbz
