FROLANDER, Evelyn

Funeral services were held Sept 13 for Mrs. Evelyn Frolander, Skagway's oldest citizen who died Sept 7 in Anchorabe at the age of 91. Mrs. Frolander led a long and faithful life, teaching school in the midwest then becoming a nurse, taking part in WWI as a Red Cross nurse in France and Germany for several years which included service after the war was over also. She came to Alaska as a Public Health Nurse met Luddy Frolander when she came to Skaway as a tourist and they were married in 1927. From this time on she lived in Skagway and was a busy and public-spirited citizens until age and ill health kept her confined to her home in Skagway and (Luddy) was foreman for the Alaska Road Commission for many years. They had no children and have no close survivors.
